The Vineyard and Winery sit on an 80 acre site, with the vines planted on the most suitable tracts. The soils are deep, eroded volcanic ridge line. The young vines are irrigated from Spring fed ponds. The bearing vines find adequate moisture for maturation and ripening in the deep soils without any supplemental irrigation. All of our vines are on vertically divided canopies in order to promote air circulation, sunlight exposure to the fruit, and to enhance fruit quality.

Our winery which is directly adjacent to the vineyard and will produce approximately 4000 cases a year. We treat the wines gently at all phases of development, employing whole cluster pressing for the most delicate of the white wines, cool temperature fermentation in jacketed tanks, and French Oak barrel ageing. The red wines are punched down by hand before being gently pressed and aged in oak for one year. We use exclusively French Oak barrels for ageing of the wines except for our nationally recognized Norton (a native Virginia grape) which is proudly aged in Virginia Oak barrels.

Our Tasting Room is in one corner of the winery, a few steps from the vineyard, and a place where the winemaking activities are ongoing while visitors enjoy sampling the wines.
